An official seal belonging to Pope Leone IX dated 1052 establishes that this rare and unique castle already existed in the early middle ages. In fact, this magnificent stronghold situated in the Piceno area retains almost perfectly intact its original medieval structure. Castel di Luco, set in a marvellous rural landscape and emmersed in wonderfully peaceful woodland, charms visitors from the moment they enter the fortress via the ancient stairway carved into the rock face. Laura and Francesco, the young owners, have also created four suites in the tiny hamlet beneath the castle. The couple personally welcome guests, offering them their own special brand of hospitality, authentic regional cuisine, and a highly contagious ethusiasm for a place to which they have dedicated heart and soul.
